Aadhaar Card Updates: Deadline Extended and UPI Activation with Google Pay

There is a Good News For those People who are lazy or Busy . If you are one of them who did not make changes if needed in Aadhar card as of now. The deadline for updating your Aadhaar card details online for free has been extended until September 14, 2023. This extension was announced by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in June. Previously, UIDAI allowed citizens to update their Aadhaar card information online without any charges. This is part of the Digital India campaign.

If you have an Aadhaar card, you can make changes to it if needed until September 14. To do this online, visit the UIDAI website at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/portal. You’ll need to enter your Aadhaar number and other necessary information.

UIDAI mentioned in their official document, “To encourage more residents to update their Aadhaar documents, it was decided to provide the option to update their Aadhaar documents through the myAadhaar portal for free until September 14.”

Why Update Aadhaar? UIDAI recommends updating your Aadhaar card, especially if it was issued more than 10 years ago and hasn’t been updated since then. This helps ensure that the information on your Aadhaar card is accurate and current. Accurate details make it easier to receive services and improve the success rate of authentication.

Important Note: UIDAI never asks for your Proof of Identity (POI) or Proof of Address (POA) documents through email or WhatsApp to update your Aadhaar. You can update your Aadhaar online through the UIDAI’s website, myAadhaarPortal, or by visiting an Aadhaar center near you.

Google Pay Supports Aadhaar-Based Identification In another update, Google Pay now allows Aadhaar-based identification for UPI activation. According to the Times of India (TOI), users can set their UPI PIN without needing a debit card by registering for UPI using Aadhaar through the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Please note that this feature is currently available for only a few banks’ customers, but more banks are expected to offer it soon.
